OPP in Leeds County say they intercepted an Ottawa-bound van carrying 1.6 tonnes of unsafe food.
Officers pulled the vehicle over on the 401 near Mallorytown on Thursday morning.
The van was more than 1700 kilograms overcapacity and several important vehicle records were missing.
Police say the van was filled with chicken and meat products which had been thawed or had not been refrigerated properly.
The products were on their way to a specialty food store, though OPP can't say which one.
A 41-year-old driver from Toronto is facing charges.
