Sears is closing 59 stores across Canada, including four in eastern Ontario and west Quebec.
They include the Sears stores in Hull and Brockville, the outlet in Cornwall, and the Sears Home store in Ottawa East.
Aproximately 2,900 jobs will be lost.
The move came just hours after the company applied for protection from its creditors so it can continue its restructuring.
Conservative MP Gord Brown, who represents Brockville, said it's not good news, following the announcement of the closure of the Procter and Gamble plant.
"This is another blow to the economy in our area," Brown told 'News and Views with Rob Snow."
"I'm going to do everything I can to help those individuals who are directly affected."
On Wednesday, Sears Canada's stock plunged more than 22 per cent.
It warned earlier this month that there was ``significant doubt'' about its future over the next 12 months, adding that it could be liquidated or restructured.
