OPP. RCMP, and the Smiths Falls Police say a five-week long child pornography investigation has ended in several charges laid against a 26-year-old man.
Daniel Roger Daoust of Smiths Falls was charged with three counts of possession of child pornorgraphy, and two counts of making it available.
The Smiths Falls Police say the investigation started after the Canadian Police Centre for Expolited Children was tipped off by a federal agency in the U.S. that someone in Smiths Falls was viewing child pornography. They say this information was then passed on to the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit.
Daoust was arrested Feb. 15, 2017 when police executed a search warrant at a residence on McGill St. in Smiths Falls.
The Smiths Falls Police add he was also charged with five counts of breach of probation, and two counts of breaching a court order.
He's in custody now, and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing next Thursday in Perth at the Ontario Court of Justice.
An unnamed 34-year-old man was also arrested at the scene with Daoust, for violating his release conditions. He was also held for a bail hearing to answer to that charge.
The OPP say the investigation is ongoing. The Smiths Falls Police is urging anyone with information about this incident or similar ones to call them at 613-283-0357, or to contact Crime Stoppers.
