A local band is hoping to give back using their music.
The Gertrudes have released a new song, with all proceeds going to Kingston's Street Health Centre.
The song is called from emergency to emergency
The band says the song focuses on their experience with the covid-19 pandemic and their reactions to it.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has really highlighted some gaps in our social safety net and infrastructure," Wendy Vuyk, Kingston Community Health Centres Community Health Director said.
"We are so touched by this effort by The Gertrudes to help us support our clients in this unique time. This gift will make a difference to many lives, and is a wonderful example of the power and generosity of our local community," she continued.
The band says the song, titled Emergency to Emegency, focuses on their experience with the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Emergency To Emergency is an attempt to express and reflect on some of the anxiety and profound sense of isolation so many people are experiencing at this time," Greg Tilson, co-composer for The Gertrudes said.
The song is based on the traditional Irish tune "Rocky Road To Dublin" by D.K. Gaven and was contributed to by renowned Canadian fiddle player, Teilhard Frost.
You can buy the song on The Gertrudes' Bandcamp website.
