Ottawa Paramedics say a 2-year-old boy needed no medical attention after he accidentally locked himself inside a hot car.

His mom was standing just outside the car Wednesday afternoon when she heard the doors lock behind her.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. in a gym parking lot in Barrhaven.

The mother, who never left the scene, called 911 to get help. An Ottawa Police officer broke the window with the help of an off-duty firefighter who was in the gym at the time.

Paramedics say it was absolutely the right thing to do, as no child should be left in a hot car for any length of time.
