Work continues to ramp up to prepare for Canada Day, including a road closure which caught people off-guard today and appeared to ground traffic to a halt twice.
Wellington shut down between Bank and O'Connor this morning to set up a tent.
The stretch is only about 190 metres long, but it managed to delay many commuters by as much as an hour.
There were long waits for bus riders crossing west over the Mackenzie King Bridge.
"It's insane," one commuter told CTV News. "I'm going to have to leave two hours early to get to work. I'm already 45 minutes late."
"There's not much you can do," said another. "Sat for about 40 minutes near the University of Ottawa."
"It is what it is."
The westbound lanes reopened this afternoon, but it did not appear to alleviate matters.

Not the option you want after long day but walking from DT to Lebreton Flats is faster
Once again, the Mackenzie King Bridge was filled with buses and OC Transpo was reporting delays of 45 minutes on Albert along with detours.
