Ottawa Fire says they got a single call about the car in the middle of the river... but when they got there, it was empty.

Ottawa Fire Services says they received a single 911 call just after 11 pm last night, reporting that a car had gone through the ice approximately 100 ft. from the shore of the Ottawa River.

It happened at 4100 Armitage Ave., on the banks of the Ottawa River, in Dunrobin, west of the city.

When they arrived, water rescue crews searched the partially-submerged vehicle to find it was unoccupied. No injuries have been reported.

Police say they eventually located the owner of the vehicle, who managed to escape without any injuries.

Ottawa Fire Services says it would like to remind citizens to exercise extreme caution around waterways.
